A glimpse to the strong partnership between Tissot and the NBA

22.10.2019

Tissot, the Official Timekeeper of the NBA since 2015 is happy to present its program for the up-coming season. The 2019-2020 NBA season will be the 74th for the National Basketball Association and will start on October 22 in Toronto. The Toronto Raptors, the first non-US team to have won the Championship, will play against the New Orleans Pelicans to open the season. The regular season will last for about six months to end on April 15th 2020.

This upcoming season with the NBA will start the next chapter of Tissot’s partnership: a central focus will be built, positioning Tissot as a lifestyle brand, which is fundamental to the NBA. Through the years, Basketball massively evolved; it’s not just a sport it’s a lifestyle with a very strong community. It goes without saying that basketball creates trends but also influences other sectors with their lifestyle such as beauty, fashion or music. As the Official Timekeeper of the NBA, Tissot not only got challenged on a technological point of view when developing the Shot Clock but also in terms of watch design. This partnership is a great opportunity to continue developing basketball-inspired timepieces adding a stylish touch to the already existing sport collection. Whether they are part of the NBA Special Editions or in Tissot’s regular collections the Tissot timepieces are an eye catcher on and off the court, which confirms that Tissot and basketball make a perfect match.

Tissot has long been involved in sports and shares many of the same values as the sport of basketball such as precision and performance and of course style. Not only is Tissot involved in timekeeping, but also in partnership with many athletes such as Tony Parker. Parker played 18 seasons at the NBA and decided to retire after the 2018/19 season. However, he will continue to be part of the Tissot Family next to Trae Young and Klay Thompson who joined the team last year. The brand is also proud of its partnerships with some NBA teams such as Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Hornets but also Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors and 4 more. During the regular season, the number one Swiss traditional watchmaker in terms of volume will continue its activation around this strong partnership with the famous Buzzer Beater or some events with famous NBA players.

Tissot has shown throughout its partnership with the NBA that whatever your style, Tissot has a watch to suit and, of course, the precision to match. This year, Tissot launched a special watch, the Tissot Chrono XL NBA Collector with a strap made with the official leather of the Spalding basketball.

This new Chrono XL timepiece is a collector’s dream as it comes in a special watch box that holds interchangeable mineral crystal case back inserts for all 30 NBA teams (the watch comes fitted with the NBA logo). A basketball-shaped tool makes it easy to switch these special medals in seconds.
