Moritz and Franz Wagner Join the Tissot Family
Tissot is proud to welcome German basketball brothers Moritz and Franz Wagner to its family of brand ambassadors.
This comes at a moment of perfect timing, as the NBA Europe Games, presented by Tissot, bring the Orlando Magic to face the Memphis Grizzlies in Berlin and London. For Moritz and Franz Wagner, this homecoming on European soil marks the beginning of a new chapter with Tissot, blending their international success with the brand’s enduring commitment to performance and precision.
From Berlin to the NBA
Moritz Wagner, born in April 1997, grew up in Berlin and began his professional basketball journey with ALBA Berlin in 2014. His talent quickly carried him across the Atlantic, to the University of Michigan in 2015, where he became a standout player. In the 2018 NCAA Final Four, he delivered a historic performance with 24 points and 15 rebounds, helping Michigan reach the championship game. The same year, he was selected in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers and made his debut in November 2018.
Franz Wagner, born in August 2001, followed his older brother’s path three years later when he first suited up for ALBA Berlin’s professional team in 2017. His promise was recognized early when he was named Best Young German Player in 2019. Later that year, he joined his brother at Michigan University, where he played until 2021. His steady rise culminated in being drafted eighth overall by the Orlando Magic in 2021, making his NBA debut in October that year.
Now united in Orlando, the brothers share the court with a chemistry and passion that have made them fan favourites. Moritz contributes energy, toughness and reliable shooting as a skilled big man, while Franz has emerged as one of the league’s brightest young stars, averaging close to 20 points per game and earning All-Rookie First Team honours in 2022. In the demanding world of American basketball, where only a select few Europeans manage to thrive, the Wagner brothers have carved out their place among the elite.
Their bond extends beyond the NBA hardwood. In 2023, Moritz and Franz Wagner helped lead Germany’s National Team to its first-ever FIBA World Cup title, a historic triumph that underscored their devotion and passion for the game.
A New Chapter with Tissot
This collaboration represents a significant moment for both the brand and the players. “Joining Tissot means a lot to me. As the NBA’s Official Timekeeper, they’re part of every play, every second that matters. Basketball is all about timing, knowing when to act, when to take the shot, when to make the right move. Working with a brand that values those moments feels natural, and I’m excited to be part of that story,” said Moritz Wagner. Franz Wagner added: “This partnership comes at an important moment in my career. Joining Tissot feels like a step that reflects where I am today and where I want to go next.”
Sylvain Dolla, CEO of Tissot, commented: “For Tissot, their story is a natural fit. Time and determination are the route to success, whether in watchmaking or on the court. The Wagner brothers embody these values, representing the next generation of international basketball excellence. Their success stems from talent as well as the perseverance and rigor that truly connect with Tissot’s philosophy.”
